iLASIK combines the Excimer laser for cornea sculpting with the Femtosecond laser for bladeless flap creation allowing bladeless LASIK surgery.  Dr. Duffey has done research comparing femtosecond flapmaking with modern automated microkeratome flapmaking and determined that both technologies are fast, precise and safe alternatives for his patients seeking accurate and speedy recovery following LASIK surgery.

How does iLASIK work?

Creating a customized vision profile:  The first step with iLASIK is to perform a wavefront analysis using the WaveFront system.  Your eye is as unique as your fingerprint.  The WaveScan/WaveFront system creates a 3-D map that provides detailed information of your vision correction requirements to develop a personalized laser vision correction plan.

Delivering the customized iLASIK correction:  Once the flap has been made, a second, ultra-precise “cool” excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea to the desired curvature, based on the digital information from your personalized WaveScan/Wavefront map.  The flap is then replaced and vision is restored after a few brief hours of healing.
